Classics that were beloved by the public and hailed by Madison Avenue


It's often been said: "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Between 1971 and 1973, Amtrek ran a campaign that attempted to do just that. This ad focused on our sometimes-inconvenient schedules.


Here's one from 1972 that dealt creatively with a persistent problem. It skillfully reshaped the public's negative perception of lateness.


This was part of the "Amtrek's America" series of ads back in the early days of the campaign, last month.


The second installment in the "Amtrek's America" campaign spotlighted the gritty charm of Smallville, U.S.A.


The airlines just can't compete with scenery like this.
